GPT-4: Yes It Out! | ChatGPT Releases GPT-4

Openai the company behind ChatGPT has now released GPT-4 which is a larger model than the existing model GPT-3.5 which their extremely popular ChatGPT runs on. ChatGPT Plus users can now select to use the GPT-4 model in the web interface.

The model has a much larger training set and should therefore give more accurate responses. The first test seems to provide larger outputs and is faster. Plus users will as an initial setting get 8K Tokens outputs which can be increased up to 32K Tokens. What does that mean to you? You can get longer articles written 🙂 Here is a quote from their official website.

Once you’re off the waitlist, you’ll receive an email with further instructions on how to get started. We will process requests for the 8K and 32K models at different rates based on capacity, so you can expect to receive 8K access first.

This applies to their API, which is offering developers additional benefits if they subscribe to Eval Learn

During the gradual rollout of GPT-4, we’re prioritizing API access to developers that contribute exceptional model evaluations to OpenAI Evals to learn how we can improve the model for everyone. We are processing requests for the 8K and 32K engines at different rates based on capacity, so you may receive access to them at different times. Researchers studying the societal impact of AI or AI alignment issues can also apply for subsidized access via our Researcher Access Program.

What has improved in GPT-4?

GPT-4 surpasses ChatGPT in its advanced reasoning capabilities.

What does that mean? Well, compare to ChatGPT it should give more precise answers. I will follow up on this topic

GPT-4 can solve difficult problems with greater accuracy, thanks to its broader general knowledge and problem-solving abilities.

GPT-4 can accept images as inputs and generate captions, classifications, and analyses. But that's not available yet other than those in Eval program.

GPT-4 is capable of handling over 25,000 words of text, allowing for use cases like long-form content creation, extended conversations, and document search and analysis. This means that you can feed the system with longer text to get better answers.

Overall exciting outlook for the future. Embrace the technology rather than fearing it and you will be at the forefront and ahead of competition.
